The Mammogram Test - Breast Cancer

The waiting room feels normal, filling out the paperwork same o same o. Walk to the exam room and go through the same motions..... remove your top.  Stand here, put your arm here,  hold still while the machine makes it's cycling noises, don't move, Squash Squash!! Ok turn this way and put your arm up and hold this railing.  Be still and don't move again, Squash!

Soon the 'screening' mammogram is over and the technician tells you to get dressed. While she hurries to collect and send off the images to the radiologist,  a woman's mind is racing.  What did you see on the screen?  Can you tell me? As usual the technician looks down and says she can't answer your questions.  It will be seen by the radiologist and then sent to the Dr for review. If they need to do more tests those are called 'diagnostic' mammograms and you will need to schedule again.   You will get a letter in the mail with the results.  It takes time...... more time than any woman wants to want to find out if her world is going to be turned upside down.  Hurry up to wait...... and wonder..... and worry.  

What should you do in the meantime while the systems of healthcare go through their regular 8-5 jobs, holding your life in their hands?  Put your Mammogram results in God's hands - He already knows you from the inside out.  He is able to take care of this situation like He has taken care of all of your other situations in life!  Lift your arms and give it all into His Hands. 

Don't wait on man, just do this...... "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength'.  Wait on God.  

Every day He will guide your steps for He knows the plans He has for you.....

Ladies have you had your Mammogram yet this month?  While it could be put off...... the value of prevention and early detection far outweighs the hassle and waiting that goes along with the whole Mammo scene.  So don't put it off..... book your appointment NOW!    If it's been a while since you have had this test, you may be pleasantly surprised at the updated equipment now in use across the US.  The 3D imaging machine really is an upgrade in showing more details to the radiologist.  Better testing means better results for every woman, AND easier to deal with the process as well.

I was raised by missionary parents and life was a constant roller coaster of excitement, dangers, scary times and lonely places in Africa. How we survived living deep in the bush of Liberia West Africa is miraculous to say the least!

This is my story - and how we learned 21 very important Leadership Principals that have carried me through my entire life. God has been my coach all the way, and it's by His Grace that my family  survived many different challenges.

Understanding Your Season

Most love the change in the seasons..... and feel ready for the change in weather.   Pulling warmer clothing out, and those scarves and boots makes life feel exciting and fresh for a change.  We love the seasonal foods and holidays that will soon appear on the Calendar. .  Gives us something different  to think about and look  forward to.  Our family traditions come out and we celebrate anew the changes around us. 

Life is like that...... we are young once. Then become teens with twisting feelings, actions and attitudes that change with the wind every day.  Slowly the season changes and we grow up into adults who find the responsibilities of life sweet sometimes and bitter at other times.  

Then we hit midlife..... suddenly 'mom and dad' know a bit more about life than they did when we were all young. And our children change seasons and start moving out on their own and the cycle of life turns again for them.  And we must fill our hours with new projects since the kids now are grown into their own lives and projects.  

Suddenly 70 looms ahead and we think, "where did the time go?  I'm not old but I'm 70 now!" The season of life has shifted without our permission and lifted us from the ease of completions into the stages of fading strengths and memories.  

Yet the seasons of life carry us from growth to growth when we allow the seasons to change for us. Not clinging backwards to that which is darkened yesterday, but fully enjoying the flaming colors of brilliance today and what lies ahead. 

Like the falling leaves of Autumn happening now outside...... inside the heart the leaves can take on new hues of clarity and focus letting the yesterdays of life slowly fall behind our steps day by day.  Embrace each season and savor it's special moments as that is what life ...... living a real life is all about. Being fully alive in the season of today.  

And the One who made you will bring your own life full circle in completion and glory in the end.

The 500 year flood!

Downtown districts, hospitals, businesses, homes and schools all are affected by this monster storm.  There will be major damage when the flood subsides.

Houston Texas Flood 2016

Every car represents a family that is now in trouble across Houston Texas.

It's being called the 500 year flood....Some areas have received as much as 16 inches of rain overnight, according to the flood control district. Seven of the city's bayous have overflowed and created major flooding issues in the surrounding neighborhoods.  
There are many Texas counties across in the southern part of the state that are under immediate flash flooding warnings, as well as the Houston and Austin areas. This massive storm has dropped 240 billion gallons of water so far on Houston alone!
