The Pro31 Woman
Lesson 1
Ruth 3:11
11And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman
Proverbs 12:4
4A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
Proverbs 31:10-31
10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

This is a clear defining pathway for us to follow:
Let's explore the first section of this passage of scripture. This is talking about a godly woman who serves the Lord.
Most women I know really want to be godly and be a good woman – but they have had no example to follow. No woman has been in front of them leading them saying, ‘this is the way….. walk in it’
And to all single women - these lessons which may not apply to your currant life – but may down the road and you will be well trained and educated having applied wisdom to your life in preparation.
And to all young girls here – you need to hear these lessons so that we can help to train you in the way you should go. So that when you are grown and married you will have the skills and knowledge to handle the matters of a woman’s life.
So let me share with you some gospel truths that apply to women all over the world no matter where you are in the earth. No matter your age, no matter your cultural background. We all share the same role as women.
All ladies are women – but not all women are ladies.
And as God has made us to be women – He has given us certain responsibilities that we are to oversee. Many women today don’t know the boundaries and the role that they were made to fulfill so they spend their lives trying to be men, or become the authority over the headship of men.
But there are so many wonderful things for a women to explore, in becoming a fulfilled woman that if she will only lay down her defensive actions of the political arena of being ‘equal’ to a man, and open her mind to becoming a real woman – she will find satisfaction and joy in her creation. We are not in competition with men - we are a separate creation .
Let’s talk about the first part of this passage.
10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The dictionary says:
Having or showing moral goodness or righteousness or chaste. Chaste means not having sexual intercourse with anyone except one’s own husband.
In today’ world where every moral boundary has been broken we as Christian women – reflecting God’s Glory in the earth must take a hard look at who we are – and to Whom we belong. To become Christ-like is to desire to reflect Him in all we do or say.
We must become vigilant when it comes to our virtue.
Sometimes a single sentance can bring clarity to understanding one's self. Look at this little proverb from Japan.
When the character of a woman is not clear to you, look at her friends. Japanese Proverb
Looking at ones friends can help you to clearly see - who is influencing my life? And who am I most likely to become like, because of their words.
Our friends are not necessarily those of whom God has called us to become like. But His Word teaches us that our husbands are those of whom we are called to develop trust with.
11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have no need of spoil.
The heart of a man is private.
Can he trust you?
Reliance and Care
Something in which confidence is placed.
Sharing his hopes and dreams for the future.
Holding of his property.
……………………so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Spoil: harm by overindulgence………………….. cause to seem unsatisfactory …….stealing.
12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Good means of high quality.
Suitable, kind, skilled, virtuous, ample, affording pleasure, undamaged, valid, helpful pleasant, favorable, beneficial, genuine, obedient, well-mannered.
