Isaiah 54 4 – 8, 10, 14-15, 17 (Amplified Bible)
(4) Fear not, for you shall not be ashamed; neither be confounded and depressed, for you shall not be put to shame. For you shall forget the shame of your youth, and you shall not [seriously] remember the reproach of your widowhood any more.
(5) For your Maker is your Husband--the Lord of hosts is His name--and the Holy One of Israel
(6) For the Lord has called you like a woman forsaken, grieved in spirit, and heartsore--even a wife [wooed and won] in youth, when she is [later] refused and scorned, says your God.
(7) For a brief moment I forsook you, but with great compassion and mercy I will gather you [to Me] again.
(8) In a little burst of wrath I hid My face from you for a moment, but with age-enduring love and kindness I will have compassion and mercy on you, says the Lord, your Redeemer.
(10) For though the mountains should depart and the hills be shaken or removed, yet My love and kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace and completeness be removed, says the Lord, Who has compassion on you.
(14) You shall establish yourself in righteousness (rightness, in conformity with God's will and order): you shall be far from even the thought of oppression or destruction, for you shall not fear, and from terror, for it shall not come near you.
(15) Behold, they may gather together and stir up strife, but it is not from Me.
(17) But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.
After reading these passages, I began thinking about this scripture into detail. Your word says in John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. So I know as long as I am here on this earth I will having problems, trials, and tribulation come into my life. However, Isaiah 54:5 above says that you Lord, now that I’ve lost my husband to death are now my husband. Lord, what does that mean for me?
As I look back over my 30 years of marriage to my husband, he was:
- A financial provider to me. Your word promises me in Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all MY need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
- A protector to me. Psalms 91:11 “For YOU Lord shall give your angels charge over ME, to keep ME in all my ways.”
Luke 4:10-11 “For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.”
- A consoler (comforter) to me, he was by my side through good and bad, through joy and sadness. John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”
John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
- A companion and my best friend. Hebrews 13:5 “…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” Psalms 25:14 “ he who keep God’s covenant are called his friends.”
- He brought fulfillment, contentment and completeness to my life. Colossians 2:10 “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”
Job 6:28 “Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you…”
Isaiah 58:11 “And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fill not.”
- I knew without a doubt that all I had to do was call him and he’d be there for me.
Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
- He accepted me for who I am and loved me regardless. Malachi 1:2a “I have loved you, saith the Lord…”
John 17:24 “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me; for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.”
- We laughed together and he’d wipe away my tears and tell me everything would be ok when things would go wrong or heartache came. Luke 6:21b “….Blessed are ye that weep now; for ye shall laugh.”
.
- He’d hold me close and make me feel safe and secure when I was afraid.
Deuteronomy 33:27 “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” II Samuel 22:3 “The God of my rock; in him will I trust; he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.”
Psalms 32:7 “Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.”
Ok, Lord your word shows me that you are indeed my Husband now. I love you Lord with all my heart, but my heart still aches so much from missing Steve. Father, will you please tell him for me how much I Love him?
