Alternative Cancer Treatment

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHN HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .

Cancer Update from John Hopkins

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard
tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the per son's immune system is strong, the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer, it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, change diet and include supplements which can strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract, etc., and can cause organ damage to the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, etc.

7. Radiation--while destroying cancer cells--also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size.  However, prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9 When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation, the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy.  Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder.  By cutting off sugar, it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells.  Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc. are made with Aspartame which is harmful.  A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts.  Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color.  A better substitute is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

B. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract.  Cancer feeds on mucus.  By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk, cancer cells are being starved.

C. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment.  A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork.  Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

D. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment.  About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for build ing healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day.  Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

E. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate which contain a lot of caffeine.  Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties.  The best water to drink is purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water.  Distilled water is acidic; avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes.  Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering.  By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs, etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.  A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor.  Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment.  Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit.  Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level.  Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

CANCER UPDATE FROM
JOHN HOPKINS HOSPITAL……….

1. No plastic containers in micro.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well.
Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.
Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies.
Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.
Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.  He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.
This especially applies to foods that contain fat.  He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastic releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else.
Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.  He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cook ed in the microwave.  As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.  Cover food with a paper towel instead.

CANCER BASICS - Article Excerpt from the Idaho Observer

"Acidosis" is the scientific term for a body that has become acidic— or has fallen below a pH of 7.0. In this state, the body’s system is deprived of oxygen causing you to be more susceptible to colds, flus and more serious diseases/infections; you also age at an accelerated rate.

Our modern lives give us ample opportunity to become acidic. Commonly-consumed acid-forming foods and beverages include meat, dairy products, sugar, coffee and alcohol. Environmental exposure to solvents, herbicides, pesticides and other chemical toxins boost our tendency to become acidic.

Acidosis is the cause of America’s #2 killer — cancer. In order to understand the basics of cancer, we must first understand the acid/alkaline balance. In understanding the acid/alkaline balance, the following summary makes perfect sense: The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar.

Over 75 years ago, Dr. Otto Warburg was awarded two Nobel prizes for demonstrating that cancer results when weakened cell respiration occurs due to lack of oxygen at the cellular level. According to Warburg, damaged cell respiration causes fermentation, resulting in low pH at the cellular level.

Dr. Warburg, in his Nobel Prize winning papers, described the environment of the cancer cell: A normal healthy cell undergoes an adverse change when it can no longer take in oxygen to convert glucose into energy. In the absence of oxygen, the cell reverts to a primal nutritional program to nourish itself by converting glucose through the process of fermentation. The lactic acid produced by fermentation lowers the cell pH and destroys the ability of DNA and RNA to control cell division. The cancer cells then begin to multiply without restraint.

The lactic acid simultaneously causes severe local pain as it destroys cell enzymes; the cancer appears as a rapidly-growing external cell covering with a core of dead cells. We know cell masses of this description as "tumors."

Subsequent research by Keith Brewer, Ph.D and H.E. Satori has shown that cancer cannot exist when the body’s pH is raised to 8.0.

Dr. Brewer developed a protocol to therapeutically raise pH with the element cesium in conjunction with potassium.

God made the perfect body—and then we spend the rest of our lives starving it of the elements our cells need to function properly.

Doctors Otto Warburg and Linus Pauling won Nobel prizes in chemistry for identifying the true causes of diseases such as cancer at the molecular level—and what can be done to reverse the symptoms. The process is the opposite of complicated: It’s elemental. And, unlike the drugs, radiation treatments and surgeries bankrupting Americans today, many people diagnosed as terminal are reporting a reversal of their chronic symptoms after a few weeks for under $100.

You can do your own research by studying the work of doctors Warburg, Pauling, Keith Brewer, Fred Klenner and Irwin Stone.

Note: A group of chronic disease survivors formed Advanced Scientific Health (ASH) to help people understand how their bodies become ill and how to heal them nutritionally. To support the cause, compounding pharmacists are making the elements of orthomolecular nutrition available to ASH members at lab cost. The Idaho Observer, in conjunction with ASH, will publish a guide to orthomolecular nutrition by May 1, 2005. Call The Idaho Observer for more information

7 Habits to Prevent Breast Cancer

All of the research that I have studied and continue to read, all points to 7 healthy habits that are simple and can be done by any woman!  Read for yourself and begin to change your personal health.  How?

  • Eat organic whole grains, along with lots of fresh organic vegetables (raw as much as possible) and lots of fresh organic fruits (again raw as much as possible) will contribute to your health. Why organic?  Organic means the food was grown without the use of pesticides.  Pesticides are poisonous and research shows they may be linking to increased breast cancer levels!
  • We all know that our immune system fights off disease, virus's and sicknesses from our bodies. So take care of your immune system - it's your built in healing system by God the Creator. How do you take care of it?  By eating foods that feed it and keep it strong.  It's a simple concept but oh so true.  and if the immune system gets weakened - free radicals are taking over!  Your immune system  can keep things under control with your help.
  • Exercise regularly - keep looking for something that gets you moving that you enjoy doing.  Your body needs to move - it helps every system you have!
  • Remove the harmful chemicals in your life, period.  Remove them.  It takes time to do this.  But did you know that everything you put on your skin - is going inside your body.  So take a look at the ingredients of your favorite lotion, creams, facials, make up, shampoos, etc ... and see if you know or can even pronounce what are the ingredients!  There are many healthy organic beauty treatments on the market now that will replace all of the products  that have yet to be discovered what havoc these chemicals causing.
  • Learn to manage the stress in your life. Stress lowers your body's immune system. There is no one that can de-stress you but you.  So take the time needed to relax regularly
  • Stop drinking alcohol. Period. The links between alcohol and breast cancer are strong indications of possible connections.
  • Work on your weight. If you weigh more than is natural for your age and height, the extra fatty tissue is adding estrogen to your body.  And extra estrogen promotes breast cancer.

I leave you with one question - can you change your lifestyle?

You can't ....... or you won't?

How to Head off Cancer

This article is printed in the April 2008 Edition of the Good Housekeeping Magazine.

How to Head Off Cancer

Confused by conflicting medical studies?

These eight strategies will help keep you healthy.

1. Live the active life. Even if you're lean, you can't rest on your laurels. You can't rest, period. According to a recent study cosponsored by the Harvard School of Public Health, thin women who exercise for less than an hour per week are up to 32 percent more likely to die of cancer than equally slender but more active women. Experts think that regular workouts may boost your immune system, so it'll be better equipped to stop precancerous cells from becoming malignant. Exercise seems to pay off most in the fight against breast cancer, but it also helps prevent colon and ovarian cancers. How much walking, jogging, biking, swimming, or playing tennis do you need to do? The American Cancer Society suggests 45 minutes, five or more days a week. But everyday activities like gardening, cleaning the house, and washing the car count too, many experts believe.

2. Pay attention to extra pounds. Excess weight makes you more vulnerable to cancer of the breast, cervix, uterus, ovary, colon, kidney, liver, and gallbladder. In fact, the more overweight you are, the higher your risk will be: In a major study of 900,000 Americans, the heaviest women had a 62 percent higher death rate from cancer than women of normal weight. But if you drop pounds, you'll help lower your levels of insulin and other factors that promote cancer growth, says Cynthia J. Stein, M.D., M.P.H., of Harvard. To find out whether your weight puts you at risk, check your body mass index (BMI), which is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. Ideally, it should be under 25 (you can find GH's BMI calculator "http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/bmi-calculator" Do you have a ways to go to reach 25? Smaller losses help too. Even avoiding any more gain is beneficial, since it prevents your cancer risk from increasing.

3. Say yes to fruits and veggies. They contain potent cancer-fighting compounds called antioxidants, which protect against cancer of the lung, stomach, colon, rectum, larynx, pancreas, breast, and bladder. In fact, if we all ate five or more servings a day, cancer incidence worldwide would drop by 20 percent, according to a report cosponsored by the American Institute for Cancer Research. You should aim for at least three veggie and two fruit servings daily.

4. Get the tests that truly prevent. When it comes to cancer screening, the Pap smear and colonoscopy are special: They find precancerous growths, which can be removed, thereby stopping cancers from ever starting, explains Peter Greenwald, M.D., of the National Cancer Institute. If your Pap reveals cells on your cervix, the OB-GYN can remove them via an office procedure. During a colonoscopy, the doctor can snip out any polyps -- growths of benign tissue that sometimes turn into cancer -- as he's examining your large intestine. You should have a Pap every year if you're under 30; after that, if you've had three normal tests in a row, you may be screened only every two to three years. Colonoscopy screening should start at age 50, then be repeated every five to ten years.

5. Get your vitamin D. A few months ago, a review of more than 63 studies found that this vitamin offers real protection against colon, breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers. We suspect it helps keep cells tightly knit together, which prevents rogue cells from breaking away and mutating into cancer, explains coauthor Edward D. Gorham, Ph.D., of the University,San Diego. The best source of vitamin D is sunlight. But you have to be sunscreen free for ten to 15 minutes a day, twice a week. Alternate sources of vitamin D: fortified dairy foods, cereals, and orange juice; oily fish; and most multivitamins. How much do you need? The daily requirement is set at 200 international units (IUs) for women under 50 and 400 IUs for those who are older. But many experts feel intake should be closer to 1,000 IUs. Talk with your doctor.

6. Consider the Pill. Take it for ten to 12 years and you'll slash your risk of endometrial cancer by more than 70 percent and your risk of ovarian cancer by 50 percent or more. Even if you're on oral contraceptives for only one year, your odds of getting these two cancers go down. And protection continues long after you stop taking the Pill, for up to 30 years.

7 Pop the right supplement. In a study, women who took a multivitamin with folic acid every day for at least 15 years cut their risk of colon cancer by 75 percent; other research has linked folic acid to better odds against breast, cervical, and ovarian cancers. 8 Do the obvious -- quit smoking. Now there's a new reason: Smokers have a 30 to 40 percent increased risk of breast cancer, says a study from the Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Of course, quitting also cuts your chances of developing other cigarette-related malignancies -- of the lung, cervix, bladder.

These Studies are printed in the 2008 April Edition of Good Housekeeping Magazine. Their everyday tricks: How cancer experts fight cancer.

"I think it's important to have a multivitamin every day, but I hate swallowing pills. So now I take a chewable Flintstones".Anne McTiernan, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Prevention Center,Cancer Research Center.

"Every Sunday, I make a huge pot of vegetable soup, wash a ton of lettuce, and stock up on carrots to eat the rest of the week". Marcia L. Stefanick, Ph.D., professor of medicine, Stanford Prevention Research Center, Stanford University School of Medicine.

"I wouldn't get to the gym if left to my own devices. So I joined with coworkers; peer pressure definitely works! I've also found a simple way to keep my weight down: I gave up tortilla chips". Marji McCullough, Sc.D., R.D., senior epidemiologist, American Cancer Society

What are the risk factors?

What Are the Risk Factors for Breast Cancer?

Do you know?
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in North American women. It is a leading cause of cancer death, second only to lung cancer. Simply being a woman and getting older puts you at risk for breast cancer.

What puts me at risk?
Risk for developing breast cancer is individual. It depends on a combination of lifestyle and personal traits known as "risk factors." The following risk factors are strongly related to the disease and can alert you and your physician to the need for careful follow-up:

A family history of breast cancer, especially in your mother, sister(s), or
    daughter(s)

Age -- in general, the older you are, the greater your risk

  Never having borne a child

Having your first child after age 30

First menstrual period at an early age

A history of benign breast disease that required biopsies

Other breast conditions: lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) or atypical hyperplasia.

How can you determine your individual risk?

Just knowing these risk factors for breast cancer will not establish your individual risk. Researchers have developed a computerized formula known as the Gail model, that can evaluate your personal risk factors and predict your five-year and lifetime risk for developing breast cancer. This breast cancer risk calculation is fast and simple. If you would like to know your own predicted breast cancer risk, you can calculate it here.
